Here are some tips to help you prevent your hair color from fading

Maintaining vibrant hair color can be challenging, but with the right care, you can keep your locks looking fresh and radiant. Here are some tips to help you prevent your hair color from fading:

  1. Take lukewarm showers whenever possible. You might love hot showers, but cold water is much gentler on colored hair. Hot water can reopen the hair cuticle, allowing color to escape, while cold water locks your color in, lukewarm water is a safe alternative.

  1. Put a filter on it. Installing a filter on your shower head will reduce your hair’s exposure to harsh minerals like iron, and lime, metals like copper and even small amounts of chlorine and prolong the life of your hair color, your skin will feel better too. If you have water that is treated by a filtration system that controls the hardness and depends on the use of chemicals to be added to it on a schedule, make sure these substances are filtered out at the tap.

  1. Don't use dry shampoos. Originally dry shampoos were used in hospitals and in cases of convalescence at home when getting the head wet was not an option.

invariably, regardless of delivery form, be it powder, spray, etc. these products contain ingredients that will cause havoc in the hair from the first application interfering with your hair color.

  2. Use hot tools carefully. Ask your stylist for assistance on proper thermal styling techniques. Always use a heat protectant before styling.

  1. Moderate sun exposure. Too much sun isn’t just bad for your skin; it accelerates hair color fading, too. UV rays can penetrate the hair cuticle and bleach out your color while infrared swells the cuticle making it susceptible to premature color loss. Use products with UV protection and wear a UV hat if you’ll be outside.

  1. Don't do this: don't leave products longer than indicated in the label by the manufacturer.

The truth is that products used in the shower after the shampoo contain softening agents and they are a sure way of shortening the life of your color when left on too long.

Dry or brittle hair as well as some hair textures as curly or frizzy and especially chemical procedures such as bleach, highlights and many hair color formulas by their very nature render your hair more susceptible to color-fading when not properly chosen applied and maintained.

When you hear hydration it's nothing but another word for water. There are ingredients that can efficiently retain moisture, they have a function, and when properly used, they can help retain the right hygroscopic balance, that said, too much of a so-called hair moisturizer can also dry out your hair by displacing water out of it.

There are many other factors that can affect the life of your hair color, too long to address in a blog. You're invited to ask questions if I may be of further assistance
